Leatherhead Bikeathon 2010 – bigger and better than ever

On Sunday 26th September over 130 riders took to the road in support of QEF. After a group stretching exercise with Mel Healy (the Great British American Football coach and sports therapist), Geoff Malow, Chairman of Surrey County Council, started the ride. There were three routes to choose from; 13 mile, 26 mile and for those ultimate riders – 45 miles.  Each route took people across some of the most picturesque parts of the Surrey and ended in a fun end village at the Old Plough Pub – Stoke D’Abernon.

Riders were greeted with a medal and goody-bag and given the opportunity to have specialist massages thanks to the generosity of Fine Fettle Multi-healthcare (www.finefettle.org).  Everyone was also able to enjoy music, a bouncy castle and BBQ – of which all proceeds were donated to QEF.

“We are thrilled to have the support of so many people and QEF staff, making this year the best Bikeathon yet. We are close to reaching our target and with all the money raised going directly to the purchase of a new vehicle to help our clients access community and leisure activities.

The event would also not have been a success without the support of QEF Ambassadors Stan Hetherington, Gary Festa and David Smith.  Not to mention Ian Fox from Spirit Hair and Beauty for sponsoring the event .â€Â Â Â Â Â
