Corporate Giving at its Best
QEF is extremely grateful to Unum, which has generously provided food and a £1,000 donation for our Vocational Services Distress Fund.
The Distress Fund is an essential resource made available to our disabled trainees when they are in desperate need and have nowhere else to turn. As part of their training programme, trainees are encouraged to return home every other weekend in order to maintain links with their family and friends. There are many who only ever receive the minimum benefit of £55 a week, which is their only source of income and there are some occasions when they cannot afford to eat or pay their utility bills at home. This is why QEF’s Distress Fund is indispensable.
Unum UK’s charity food drive was part of a Unum Group company-wide initiative to give back to local communities. Celebrating their 2009 company results, Unum and its staff decided to generously pull together to donate substantial food supplies and a £1,000 monetary donation to QEF’s Vocational Services Distress Fund.
Carol Shea – Head of Trainee Support said
“We are really grateful to Unum’s support as it will allow us to support our trainees throughout our 75th Anniversary year, who otherwise would not be able to buy food, or heat and light their homes.â€
