Brain Injury Rehabilitation

QEF provides brain injury rehabilitation services that are registered with and routinely inspected by the Care Quality Commission (CQC). Every effort is made to ensure that the criteria for Social Care established in contracts with referring authorities are adequately met.

As part of our brain injury rehabilitation, the Care and Rehabilitation Support Department provides a high standard of support and supervision for clients throughout the 24 hour period. It is committed to Surrey County Council’s Charter of Rights for Residents which recognises the personal dignity, autonomy, choices and freedoms for the individual, and maximising independence and personal responsibility.

In addition to promoting the educational and therapeutic goals established by the other specialist departments, the Department negotiates with each client a Care/Life plan which fosters skills in self-care and independent living. Rehabilitation Support Assistants also contribute to the extension of social skills and leisure opportunities.

Residential clients are registered with a local G.P. practice, but may elect a doctor of their choice within the practice. The G.P. and Senior Care and Rehabilitation Support Assistants facilitate liaison with Consultants and relevant medical services to promote optimum physical and mental health. Each client is allocated a Key Worker and Associate Key Worker as part of the network of personal support during their brain injury rehabilitation programme.

Brain Injury Rehabilitation Accommodation

The residential accommodation consists of single study bedrooms on two sites equipped with appropriate aids, including call-systems. Communal facilities include lounge and utility areas, a range of bathing/showering and toilet facilities and a central recreational area. There are also four Independent Living Units, a designated Group Home Facility and Supported Living Accommodation, giving clients opportunities to experience various levels of support in preparation for the future.
