Education and ICT Department

Following acquired brain injury, it may be necessary to re-learn or develop new basic educational skills that have been lost, in order to adjust to difficulties. Cognitive and communication difficulties can contribute to problems with maintaining, using and acquiring knowledge. The aim of the Education Department is to provide a personalised learning programme based on the results of initial (on entry) assessment of basic educational skills and individual needs. These programmes are designed to enable clients to progress towards their own identified goals and all achievements are carefully monitored and reviewed.

Our fully qualified teaching staff work closely with therapists to identify and implement systems and strategies to compensate for lost abilities and to ensure a holistic approach to each individual’s rehabilitation. Access to the education programme is provided through the early identification of appropriate learner technology to assist with physical, sensory and specific learning difficulties. A range of specialist or adapted hardware, software, communication aids and adaptive furniture provides opportunities for clients to access the wide-ranging curriculum.
