In addition, guidelines and strategies developed in other departments e.g. Psychology, Physiotherapy. These are reinforced in a practical setting to develop the cognitive, communication and physical abilities of clients, based on their individual needs.
We provide:
- Initial and ongoing assessment in practical skills
- The choice of a stimulating and varied range of practical subjects
- Individually devised integrated programmes related to the clients’ core aims and objectives.
Clients can select from:
- Woodwork
- Pottery
- Painting
- Printmaking
- Textiles
- Technology.
These subjects offer clients the opportunity to explore their own creativity, and to learn aspects of design, manufacture and finishing. Clients are encouraged to develop their own ideas, or to select from a range of designs. Where necessary, tools and equipment are adapted and, as in other subjects, the aim of the sessions is to build confidence, raise self-esteem and maximise learning opportunities in a relaxed practical environment.
Horticulture
Horticulture sessions offer the chance to learn the theory and practical skills involved in gardening, both in the greenhouse and outside in the garden. Techniques such as raising vegetables and flowers from seed, plant maintenance and harvesting are learned.
