Recreation & Leisure
The Recreation Department works with the multi-disciplinary team to rebuild and encourage clients’ confidence when interacting within the community and taking part in social and leisure activities. We encourage clients to have a full and active social life, supporting them as they explore new interests and helping them develop the communication and organisational skills necessary to pursue their interests when they make the transition from the Centre.
The cognitive, social and behavioural needs of clients are addressed by putting into practice, in the wider community, the skills and strategies learned across the client programme.
The Recreation Department provides a daily schedule of activities including:
- Ten Pin Bowling
- Conditioning Gym
- Swimming
- Trampolining
- Gardening
- Boccia
- Badminton
The new education building ‘Carpenters’ houses a working radio station and this has expanded the recreation curriculum to include:
- Radio Station Communications and Technology – in which all clients have the opportunity to undertake presenting, interviewing, preparing, scheduling and broadcasting of pre-recorded and live radio shows
