Motivational Experiences
Music, multi-media and performing arts encourage creative and expressive skills, promote access to developing innovative ways of producing, enjoying and participating in creative work and provide an opportunity to develop a critical understanding of new media arts. For some clients this will provide a new learning experience but for others may be an opportunity to re-connect with skills learnt pre-injury.
The provision of independent and group sessions aims to develop creative skills in music, multi-media and performing arts. This typically focuses on the exploration and development of confidence, creative ideas, communication and listening skills, working as part of a team, planning and organising, negotiation and compromise. Sessions may focus on individual work as well as group work and, where appropriate, work may be specifically aimed towards performance.
Christmas Show
Traditionally, groups will work on developing a Pantomime that is performed before the Christmas break. This brings together many aspects of clients’ rehabilitation and is a valuable way of developing skills within a creative setting. The work involves considerable planning and organising, requires lots of patience and repetition but provides a great sense of achievement.
International Mime Festival
Attendance at The International Mime Festival in London has become an annual event. Performance in this medium shows the value and power of non-verbal communication and has proved an inspiration for many clients challenged by verbal communication as a result of their acquired brain injury.
