Enjoying a drive down memory lane

Happy Birthday!Happy Birthday! The Training College at Queen Elizabeth’s Foundation held its 70 Birthday Party and a great time was had by all. The main prize for the event’s birthday raffle was a vintage Ford Anglia.

Mrs Carol Durrant is now the proud winner of the birthday car. Mrs Durrant is looking forward to giving the car its first spin and she has a special passenger in mind for the first journey. Her dad John! Mrs Durrant explained the emotional impact of winning the Anglia: “Dad had one of these, as a child I remember being driven around Surrey in an Anglia. For the first trip I’m going to drive dad down to Seale and re-visit all the places we used to go to.”

Prior to arriving at the Training College the car had sat in a garage for twelve years but was kindly donated to the College by a long time supporter. The car has been brought back to life by the College’s trainees and staff. It is now in stunning condition and was presented to Mrs Durrant with all the original owner’s documents, catalogue and colour chart. Lifting the bonnet up for a look under the hood prompted an appreciative response from Mrs Durrant: “Wow, its so clean! I particularly love the windscreen wipers, they are so cute!”
