Queen Elizabeth’s Foundation took over the responsibility for managing the Resource Centre, based in Brent Way, Dartford in 1991. The Foundation, a registered charity which has been providing solutions for people with disabilities for over 70 years, operates five specialist centres focusing on brain injury rehabilitation, vocational training, mobility and improving life skills and independence.

The Resource Centre, which is funded by Kent County Council, works with adults with a physical and/or a sensory impairment, helping individuals to learn new skills, regain lost abilities and, through a variety of activities with other members, gain a greater sense of confidence and fulfilment.

The current agreement ends in March 2008 and a project team has been set up by Kent County Council to look at the way forward. Foundation staff and members have been very pleased to be involved in this process discussing how best to develop greater opportunities for disabled adults in the area.

“Queen Elizabeth’s Resource Centre is extremely popular providing a wide range of activities, services and advice for people with disabilities. We are working closely with Kent County Council to ensure a positive outcome as soon as possible to minimise the uncertainty and concerns of our members,” said Debbie Saunders, manager, Queen Elizabeth’s Foundation Resource Centre.
