This course will take you to a level of skills and knowledge that will help you find and keep work in this trade.

Pre-entry Requirements
A reasonable standard of literacy and numeracy is required as reading, writing and measuring form a part of this course. You will be expected to be able to add, subtract, multiply and divide. (Open learning is available to brush up these skills if they are rusty). You will need to be able to lift and carry materials and finished products. A college assessment will be undertaken.

City & Guilds Level 1 Cert. in Basic Construction Skills – Carpentry & Joinery (6217-02)

Employment Opportunities:
Work in first or second fixing,(site work), as a carpenter's assistant or in a joinery workshop etc . You may be thinking of becoming self-employed, but you will still be expected to do a work placement first.Your Employment Development Managers will help you to make the right choice.
