Employees at Gold-i raise £5,000 to buy a new Bugzi

We would like to thank all the employees at Guildford-based FinTech firm, Gold-i, who have raised £5,000 over the last year to buy a Bugzi, an indoor powered wheelchair which offers pre-school age children with disabilities the chance to experience mobility, often for the first time in their lives.

The team of 35 people at Guildford raised money through a range of activities including office sweepstakes and international food days, which involved donating money for a lunchtime buffet consisting of homemade food made members of the team.

The Gold-i funded Bugzi has already been loaned to 4 1/2 year old Bertie, following an assessment by our paediatric occupational therapist. When Bertie outgrows his Bugzi it will be returned to the team at MERU who will refurbish it so another child can benefit.

Hayley Philippault, Head of Equipment Services for QEF and MERU said: “We would like to thank everyone at Gold-i for all their amazing fundraising efforts. Raising £5,000 to buy a new BUGZI is a fantastic achievement and it means that we can give more disabled children their first experiences of independent mobility, so they can play with siblings and explore their environment.”

Tom Higgins, CEO, Gold-i comments, “I am so proud that our team raised money to build a BUGZI to help transform the life of a child with severe disabilities, enabling them to move around independently and interact better with family and friends. It’s very much part of the Gold-i ethos to be philanthropic and inclusive. MERU and QEF are fantastic locally based charities and we are thrilled to have supported them.”
