This assessment offers a practical trial of equipment to improve access to a car seat and advice on seating and posture to improve comfort for car journeys.
The two-hour assessment is carried out by a qualified occupational therapist who will produce a written report to confirm the outcome of the assessment and recommendations.
The assessment will help to identify concerns regarding car journeys, either for a passenger or a driver. The large indoor demonstration area offers an opportunity to try various aids and adapted vehicles to find the most suitable solutions. Loading equipment such as wheelchairs or mobility scooters into a car is also covered, as are people who need to travel whilst seated in a wheelchair.
For self-referring private individuals we are able to offer a subsidised assessment for £220. All other enquirers, including all private and public sector organisations, should contact the centre for up-to-date prices.
