Disability charity Queen Elizabeth’s Foundation for Disabled People (QEF) is excited to announce the appointment of Dr. Jonathan Mamo as Consultant of Rehabilitation Medicine at their Care and Rehabilitation Centre (CRC) just outside Leatherhead, Surrey.
Dr. Jonathan Mamo is currently a Clinical Member for NHS England IFR Board, Clinical Lead for Spinal Injury Rehabilitation at Southampton General, Director for Rehabilitation Services at Wessex Trauma Network and Consultant in Rehabilitation Medicine at Western Community Hospital, Southampton.
QEF’s Care and Rehabilitation Centre is a specialist Level 2B Neuro Rehabilitation service, with flexible client pathways to meet commissioners’ needs. A multi-disciplinary team of specialist therapists, nurses and care staff, supported by a GP and Consultant, enable people to rebuild core skills after an acquired brain injury, spinal injury or stroke and provide complex neurological care to people with long term neurological conditions.
The Consultant plays a key role in defining the service; leading on complex admission decisions, attending weekly client reviews, overseeing medical decisions and shaping the future development of the service.
Dr. Jonathan Mamo says: “I am looking forward to working closely with the team at QEF and to support their delivery of excellent neuro rehabilitation in a friendly, comfortable environment. The facilities are fantastic with each person having their own en-suite bedroom and the team are dedicated to supporting clients individual goals and medical needs. We have already delivered refresher Spasticity management training to enhance the delivery of this key intervention in Service.”
QEF’s Head of Clinical Services, Jenny de Canha says; “I am delighted to be working with Dr. Mamo. His expertise in the field of rehabilitation medicine and hands on approach to supporting the Service will undoubtably inspire the whole team. We are already developing exciting new approaches such as technology-assisted therapy and neurologic music therapy. I look forward to developing new innovative practices and upskilling our clinical team with Dr Mamo so that we can further enhance the quality of care and effectiveness of our rehab interventions.”
